ADVENT 2025
WEEK 2 – PEACE
Reader 1: As we continue into the Advent season, we light a candle of PEACE. (Light the Hope and Peace candles) There is no greater peace to be had in this world than the peace that God offers us through his Son, Jesus. As we wait His coming, we remember Paul’s words to the Philippians… (4:6-7)
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Reader 2: In a world where the very air we breathe seems to carry stress and anxiety, Paul calls us to a different way…a way shaped by prayer, gratitude, and trust. Instead of staring inward in fear, Advent invites us to look upward to God and outward toward one another.
Reader 1: Prayer is more than an individual act of faith; it’s something that binds us together. When we lift our concerns to God as a community, we remember that we do not carry our burdens alone. Our unity grows when we share our struggles, our hopes, and our thanks.
Reader 2: Christ’s peace heals divisions, softens fears, and teaches us to see one another with compassion. Our peace becomes a witness to the world that the Church is made up of people held together by something stronger than conflict or worry. As we continue through Advent, may we seek this peace, God’s peace, and allow it to shape our relationships, our worship, and our life together.
ALL:
Lord Jesus, Prince of Peace, unite our hearts. Calm our minds. Guard us with Your peace as we wait with hope for Your coming. Amen.
