March 20 Day 13
PSALM 62:4-5
“Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse. Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.”
REFLECTION
In the world we can expect to face aggression and violence, deceit and betrayal, hypocrisy and hate. This is the fruit of the cosmos which is opposed to God. But God is nearby the faithful, ready not only to heal and save us…but to defend us, protect us, and guide us into peace and joy even as our enemies find their efforts to harm us frustrated.
When our hope is built on the rock of salvation, we grow more committed to our Lord with every passing storm, trial, and tribulation that he draws us through intact. When we sing the verse “How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er” we are reminded of the contrast between our variability and God’s constancy. How can we give less than our all to a Creator who offers us peace, a Holy Spirit that is a perfect guide, and a Savior who calls us friend?
PRAYER: Lord, we turn back to you not only as Savior, but as faithful protector. Even as we are buffeted by the storms of life and wounded by the evil of men’s hearts, we know that you are preparing a place of perfect rest for us. We trust none other than Jesus to lead us through the valley of death and into new life! AMEN
