March 26 Day 18
Isaiah 58:6-7
“By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses.”
REFLECTION
In our reflection on the commitment that derives from metanoia – a profound and transformative repentance that strips away our dependance on and faith in false idols and belief systems, it is important to meditate on the what and the who we are turning to for new life. When we answer God’s call to present ourselves as living sacrifices, we are making a covenant commitment to the Creator, the Giver of Life, the Imminent and Immanent sovereign God.
Student athletes commit to play at colleges, men and women commit to faithful marital relations, church members commit to mutual support in congregations. But we know that young people change their minds and schools, marriages dissolve, and folks often move from one church to another down the street. But our commitment go God is to an immutable, unchanging, and timeless Creator and Sustainer of all life. We commit to the source of blessings and love. God’s commitment to the friends of Jesus…the sheep of his flock, is never broken and never withdrawn.
PRAYER: Lord, embolden us to live in covenant commitment to our Creator. Our faith is neither conditional nor limited to contractual terms. Use your Spirit to fill us with an unshakable commitment to Jesus, who, with the Father and the Spirit, is the source of life and hope. Let us find our all in you, Lord! AMEN
