March 8 Day 3
Isaiah 30:18
“Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.”
REFLECTION
All children need to experience consistency and gentleness. God is the only true constant in the universe and God is the source of mercy, forgiveness, and love. But God’s justice is also perfect. As God, in his providence, judges our lives and fulfills his promises of blessings and curses, he never stops waiting for us to return in faith and worship in truth. Love never compels, but rather hopes. God stands ever ready to welcome us home, again and again, with grace and mercy. God is exalted in his justice as well as his mercy.
When we turn from the foreign lands of this world and return home to God, we find him rushing to meet us with joy. The question then becomes: are we content to abide in God’s presence, following the way of Jesus and seeking righteousness? Or will we lack that commitment and wander from the flock again (and again)?
PRAYER: When we know your voice, Lord, we know that way home. Strengthen our faith in you so that we might remain in your flock and turn to you in all things and in all times. And when we do stray, assure us that you are seeking and calling us back. You alone, Lord, are our hope and our salvation. AMEN
