March 13 Day 7
Micah 7:7
“But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.”
REFLECTION
There are many clarion calls from God for man to choose: peace or turmoil, hope or despair, light or darkness, life or death. Our Creator breathes his Spirit into us at the beginning of our lives and fills us with both meaning and purpose. In our brokenness we abuse our spiritual inheritance, running away to a distant land full of idols, temptation, and ruin. But God has provided a way back!
From the days of Joshua, who insisted that all people must choose the God or gods they would serve to the Centurian Cornelius whose whole household converted to faith in the way of Jesus, every man and woman is faced with a choice: choose God or choose the world. This choice is neither negotiable nor permanent. Our choice is to serve God by faith in Jesus and obeying his teachings or falling short and facing the judgement alone. The good news is that we can die to our old life and be regenerated by the Holy Spirit and have our true commitment to Christ rewarded with a Savior who stands with us on judgement day.
PRAYER: Lord, you know our divided hearts and our lukewarm commitment to Jesus. We seek him as Savior, but avoid him as Lord. Your greatest gift to your children, the incarnate Jesus, calls us back to you. It is not enough to hear…we must also obey. Give us the faith to believe and the wisdom to follow where our Shepherd leads. AMEN
